Mammothfest announces more acts
Having announced Rotting Christ headlining in a UK exclusive show and Tjusder from Norway, as main support as well as popular acts Meta-stasis and Lagerstein (Australia), amongst upcoming acts such as Bleed Again, OHHMS and more, the festival has unveiled new additions to the line-up, this time showcasing more of the best rising stars of metal… Announced for the Black Metal Second Stage on Friday 6 October 2017 are true English black metal band, Heathen Deity, who formed back in 1998 and received critical acclaim from press including Terrorizer magazine for their early 2002 EP, "Walpugisacht, For the Glory of Satan". Then band went on a hiatus they emerged from the darkness in 2014 and in 2016 they declared their ‘rebirth’ again and announced they are working on their debut album, this time armed with new members and ready to hit the stage again. Necronautical are a trio from the Northwest of England have been unleashing their misanthropic black metal since 2010. Fast forward to 2016 and the band signed with well-known British metal label, Cacophonous records and released “The Endurance At Night” that same year via them, showcasing a new dark energy and resilience for Black metal. Come and hear their latest offerings at Mammothfest! For Saturday 7 October on the Death/Extreme Metal Second Stage, we have Kill All The Gentlemen, a four piece metal band from Exeter, UK who deliver face melting pumped up metal to the masses. They played the New Blood stage at Bloodstock in 2014 as they impressively won the Hobgoblin online video competition for the track, ‘A Rose All Evil’. In 2017 the band are gearing up to head out on tour with death metal veterans, NAPALM DEATH and are in the middle of writing a new album. A must see at Mammothfest 2017! Metal quartet Materia from Poland quickly established themselves in their home country as in 2013 they released their first LP “Case of Noise” which featured on the “Must be the music” – a very popular talent show in Poland. Coming second place saw them hit the limelight in mainstream television and spread the word about the band nationally and not just among metal fans. Materia have to date played at a number of festivals including Sonisphere Poland (2010) which featured Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer and Megadeth on the line-up, Przystanek Woodstock, Jarocin Festial and Metal Fest. The band are currently busy promoting themselves by touring across Europe and it is our pleasure to welcome them to Mammothfest! British heavy metal five piece Synaptik from Norwich, inject elements of thrash, power and progressive metal to create their own signature metal sound. These seasoned musicians have in the past shared the stage with the likes of Iron Maiden, Exodus, Onslaught and more and are devastating live! 2017 is the year of Synaptik, having already signed with DeFox and Heart Of Steal records as well as landing a US deal with Divebomb records and re-releasing a remixed heavier version of their hit debut album, “The Mechanisms of Consequence” on 30th January, and they are set to make an even bigger impact with their sophomore album, “Justify & Reason” which is released on March 10th. No doubt they will be gracing us with new songs during their set but don't take our word for it, make sure you are there to see it for yourself! Hole In The Sky are no strangers to Mammothfest, they played in 2014 alongside headliners Savage Messiah, Martyr Defiled, Ingested and more! This is a well established hammering local metal band that continue to grow despite losing their singer Rik (RIKSTOCK STAGE Rik) to Brain cancer a few years ago. The fact they are back is testament to their unstoppable tech death metal so there is no doubting 2017 is going to be an incredible year for them! Gutteral Carnage are home grown local Brighton SLAM metal band. If you are into Ingested and other such disgusting (in a good way) bands then these nutters are for you! Massive detuned slam riffs and drilling drums come together in harmony to create gut wrenching extreme death metal. They may not have been around long but my god they have a huge future! Negative Measures are Hardcore Punk four piece hailing from Brighton. They haven't been on the scene long, as only formed back in 2014, and only released their debut EP 'Demotivational Speeches' via Big Word Records last year (2016) but every time the Mammothfest director Stephen Dickson goes to see them he finds local venues dripping with sweat as this energetic band bring together a community of like minded heads to party and wow they get things going! Be warned this is going to be electric! And finally another local Brighton band, Rotten Foxes, described as Death Punk, bring a comic element to Mammothfest with their off the wall on stage costumes but don't be fooled, these guys know how to ruin venues! They have currently only unleashed a self titled demo EP, but this month are due to unveil their second EP. So come and hear the foxes wail, howl and cause a racket at Mammothfest! More acts still to be announced! Tickets for Mammothfest are available now with a variety of options, including day tickets and VIP weekend tickets here.

Skindred, Raging Speedhorn, Feed The Rhino 31/01/2017 @ Concorde 2 Brighton
We sent Terrorizer Fear Candy CD curator Steve Dickson out to the Concorde 2 in Brighton with photographer Luke Bateman to check out eclectic Welsh alt-rockers Skindred, supported by both Raging Speedhorn and Feed The Rhino...
It has been hammering with rain all day as i arrive at the venue, its dark and moody and yet when i arrive at the venue the buzz feels more akin to a summer festival; everyone is up for it. 'Good ol' Brighton' I pondered as I went into the main room to find a good spot for FEED THE RHINO... They take to the stage in what many expected to be a typically gnarly performance although because they were opening and the crowd were still drying off it took a while to get the vibe going. Then, third song in, Lee the FEED THE RHINO front man takes a moment to split the crowd in half encouraging the first wall of death which changed the dynamic almost magically. The room erupted as the band stepped it up a notch much to the approval of the crowds smashing into each other in the room wide mosh pit. 'Tides' invited a welcomed gear change before ending in their usual aggressive manner. They worked a tough crowd and were an impressive opener. FEED THE RHINO will be back in Brighton on Saturday 1 April. RAGING SPEEDHORN struggled at first as the Brighton crowd took some serious motivating but then, like any good front man, Jon stopped the proceedings, picked out a young teen in a grey hoody in the middle of the crowd, and tells the rest to move away from him to get two opposing circle pits running around him. I won't lie, this was hilarious and did the trick as again the mosh pit filled the room. Even if half the crowd had never heard the band, their bluesy groove metal/hardcore edge once again hit the spot for those looking to let off some steam. A special mention is in order for both Dan from the band RSJ who stood in for the bands vocalist Frank who is poorly at the moment. Get well soon! SKINDRED kept people waiting before going on, but were met with a positive vibe, and when they played it was loud, tight and impressive. However, there was a point in the middle of their performance where their vocalist Benji, in keeping the crowd hyped asked 'do you like Metallica?', 'YES!' they cheered. He listed a number of other big metal bands reeling the crowd in with increasing wails of support, but then and then he proceeded to publicly slate Justin Bieber and while playing one of his songs worked the crowd to join chanting 'Fuck this shit!' Bieber's music does nothing for me but that's just a personal preference; I felt it was in very bad taste to say the least and had expected more from a band at this sort of level. There is enough hate in the world without adding to it and its not like metal gets the best rap anyway, so actively encouraging hatred is far from appropriate. This aside, the band put in a fantastic performance which showed off their incredible songs and musical talent.- Posted February 10, 2017

Power Trip On Their New Album ‘Nightmare Logic’
Texan thrashers Power Trip strike again with their second single from new album 'Nightmare Logic' (out February 24 through Southern Lord). Taking cues from Cro-Mags as much as Sepultura, Sacrilege and Discharge, Power Trip's crossover thrash assault is as politically-charged as it is musically volatile. And, as vocalist Riley Gale tells Terrorizer's Louise Brown, 'Nightmare Logic' couldn't have come at a better time. "We're at the point where we see if this is a band that can be one of the new legacy bands,” says frontman Riley Gale. “Bands like Slayer aren't getting any younger. People are sick of hearing over-produced rap and pop music. I think guitar music is going to come back in a big way and a lot of these bands who are going to get bigger and have lasting fanbases are the bands who want to break down those boundaries.” Coming from the Dallas underground punk scene, Power Trip grew up with hardcore ethics. Their second album is pure thrash metal, but hardcore is never far from their heart. "Bands like Turnstile,” he says when asked which bands he means, citing the pop punk band on Roadrunner. Speaking of Roadrunner... “Code Orange is another band who does a lot for breaking down genre barriers.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCTcI4orVJ8&feature=youtu.be The barriers that Power Trip want to tear down are not only the ones at the heart of their political lyrics, writing songs that snipe at sexism, racism and religious intolerance, but that of acceptance within the metal scene. They are a metal band, and a punk band. 'Nightmare Logic' is the album that sees them bring down the wall between the two. "We want to bring it back to the '90s where it was okay for Sick Of It All to tour with Sepultura or have weirder tours and not be questioned about it,” says Riley. “I've been saying this for a few years, there was a ceiling for bands before. It felt like bands couldn't get back a certain level, unless you were a shitty Warped tour band. But now you've got us getting a tour with Lamb Of God and Anthrax, you've got Code Orange going out with the Deftones, Iron Reagan doing their thing and these are bands that could make a career out of heavy music again. I think it's because these bands have a message and have ideas and they're very confident in what they want to be as a band. They're not easily moulded. We haven't changed ourselves for anybody and we're not going to start now.” The band, who promise to return to Europe as soon as they can, are gearing up to tour the US in March with Iron Reagan. Last year they toured with Napalm Death and Lamb Of God. Their first tour in Europe was with positive hardcore crew, Bane. Put Power Trip on any bill and they will tear it up. "We're accepted almost everywhere we go, we'll play with everybody,” says Riley. “We did a full US tour with Title Fight and Merchandise, who are both very poppy. In the past couple of years we've been working toward working with more metal bands and honestly, what's funny, is it seems, as much of a metal band as we are, the metal world is probably the least tuned into us. We have a lot of fans who are very much punk or hardcore. Doing that Lamb Of God, Anthrax and Deafheaven tour was definitely an eye-opener for us and how much we could appeal to the metal world at large. Some redneck would be, and this is a direct quote, not my choice of words ever, but 'Real excited for Lamb Of God and Anthrax, let's get these two faggot opening bands out of the way'. Then we would go up there and play and the same guy, after the set, would be waiting at our merch table and be like 'Man, you guys were the best fucking opening act I have ever seen in my entire life'. That was when we realised we could appeal to metal fans.” WORDS: Louise Brown 'Nightmare Logic' is out on February 24th via Southern Lord You can find Power Trip on Facebook

Cryptic Shift Announce UK Tour
Proggy thrash/death quartet Cryptic Shift have announced a string of UK dates, starting in Nottingham with Ghoul and finishing in Manchester with Acid Reign. “An extra-terrestrial life form came to me in a vision and told me I must form a progressive death thrash band called Cryptic Shift to bring shredding solos and dirty grooves to the outer dimensions of space,” says guitarist/vocalist Xander Bradley, which beats the old ‘we met in the pub’ spiel any day. There are elements of vintage tech-death heroes like Atheist and Pestilence throughout new EP ‘Beyond The Celestial Realms’, but it’s newer bands like Revocation and Vektor that Xander cites as inspiring them “to create unorthodox sounds and techniques rarely heard in most metal bands, and to incorporate our love of sci-fi and Lovecraft-esque stuff into our lyrical themes.” Following their demos and a split with Ukraine thrashers Bestial Invasion, ‘Beyond The Celestial Realms’ is certainly their most furious and well-realised work to date, or as Xander puts it, “a cosmic onslaught of light-speed riffs and worm-hole forming fretboard wizardry. We’re really happy with how it turned out and thank JRH Productions and Nemesis design for helping us realize our vision. Pick up a copy if you’re into space and guitar solos.” So that’s all of you, surely? The full list of tour dates is as follows: February 27th - The Doghouse, Nottingham, with Ghoul (Event Page) March 16th - Studio 24, Edinburgh (Event Page) March 17th - Bridge Hotel, Newcastle (Event Page) March 18th - Bad Apples, Leeds (Event Page) March 31st - Rebellion, Manchester, with Acid Reign (Event Page) You can find Cryptic Shift on Facebook

Listen to the new Wiegedood album ‘De Doden Hebben het Goed II’
The new Wiegedood album 'De Doden Hebben het Goed II' is available for you to listen to in full. The album is out 10 February on Consouling Sounds. Following the 2015 debut “De Doden Hebben Het Goed”, Wiegedood's second instalment “De Doden Hebben het Goed II” will hit the streets on February 10th. The band, comprising of members of Amenra, Oathbreaker and Rise and Fall traded in some of the atmosphere of the debut album for a more aggressive approach. Speaking about the album, Levy Seynaeve said:
"After the release of the debut album 'De Doden Hebben het Goed' we tried to play as much as we could live. I think this really made us even more of an entity. We still had a lot of riffs and song ideas that didn’t make it on the first album which we were planning to use on the second one. But when we started rehearsing to write the second album so many new stuff came up that we ended up casting the left-over material aside once more. The new album 'De Doden Hebben het Goed II' came together very naturally, and was written in the same way as we did with the debut album. Of course, we remain Wiegedood, and the atmosphere is a big part of our music, but we also tapped into a more aggressive vein on this one"
Wiegedood are out on tour now: 03/02 - Emosaal - Essen (DE) 04/02 - De Kreun - Kortrijk (BE) **Release show** 05/02 - TBC 06/02 - Viper Room - Wien (AU) 07/02 - 007 - Prague (CZ) 08/02 - Bärenzwinger - Dresden (DE) 09/02 - TBC 10/02 - Diabolica Sonis - Amstelveen (NL) 11/02 - Oetinger Villa - Darmstadt (DE) 12/02 - Nouveau Monde - Fribourg (CH) 13/02 - PMK - Innsbrück (AU) 14/02 - Zentralcape - Nürnberg (DE) 15/02 - Old Town Bicyclette - Paris (FR)- Posted February 3, 2017

Gold release video for ‘White Noise’
Gold have released a video for the track 'White Noise', taken from their new album 'Optimist' which is out via Ván Records on February 24. You can buy 'Optimist' on vinyl here or buy 'Optimist' on CD here. The latest offering from GOLD is the sound of a band who have truly found their footing musically, and thematically, a band who are not afraid to make their voices be heard. The Dutch band have been on our radar for several years now; with roots firmly in the Terrorizer world, but with an outlook that is at times so uncategorised-able they could fit into the pages of almost any music publication going. Today we’re bringing you a track from their upcoming album, Optimist, which features a baby photo of vocalist Milena Eva on the cover, and, to be fair, she’s not looking very optimistic…The track is titled, White Noise, and is food for thought in the unsettled political landscape we all find ourselves in these days. GOLD’s mastermind, Milena, fills us in:
"Confusion, disturbance, distraction, interference... Welcome to the age of post-truth and alternative facts. Putin's politics are informed by Russian avant-garde theater and Trump's two-faced presidency coincides with the prophetic return of Twin Peaks. White noise has become a powerful tool to divide and conquer. In our video for 'White Noise' we reflect on this by placing the optimistic final speech of Charlie Chaplin's timeless classic 'The Great Dictator' in the context of Trump's first weeks as a divisive fact-free populist president. We're with Nina Simone on this one: an artist's duty is to reflect the times.”
