Cryptic Shift Announce UK Tour

By on 9 February 2017

Proggy thrash/death quartet Cryptic Shift have announced a string of UK dates, starting in Nottingham with Ghoul and finishing in Manchester with Acid Reign.

“An extra-terrestrial life form came to me in a vision and told me I must form a progressive death thrash band called Cryptic Shift to bring shredding solos and dirty grooves to the outer dimensions of space,” says guitarist/vocalist Xander Bradley, which beats the old ‘we met in the pub’ spiel any day. There are elements of vintage tech-death heroes like Atheist and Pestilence throughout new EP ‘Beyond The Celestial Realms’, but it’s newer bands like Revocation and Vektor that Xander cites as inspiring them “to create unorthodox sounds and techniques rarely heard in most metal bands, and to incorporate our love of sci-fi and Lovecraft-esque stuff into our lyrical themes.”

Following their demos and a split with Ukraine thrashers Bestial Invasion, ‘Beyond The Celestial Realms’ is certainly their most furious and well-realised work to date, or as Xander puts it, “a cosmic onslaught of light-speed riffs and worm-hole forming fretboard wizardry. We’re really happy with how it turned out and thank JRH Productions and Nemesis design for helping us realize our vision. Pick up a copy if you’re into space and guitar solos.” So that’s all of you, surely?
