Who here agrees that this is the best death/grind album ever released? It's a masterpiece.

Altars is one of the best Death Metal albums ever, agreed, but I dont think Id put World Downfall in the same category. I mean, not strictly "Death Metal" is it?

It is one of the best Grind albums ever, no doubt about that.

It'a very good, but definitely not a DM record. When it came out, it caused a right stir. Probably one of the top 10 Grind albums of all time I think.

'Scum' is the definitive grind record, but 'World Downfall' is the best. It's rifftastic.

It's spanking good stuff alright. I really liked Mass Appeal Madness personally. It does eat your brain after all. Smile

Scum is let down badly by its production IMO, which significantly reduced its impact at the time. FETO also suffered from bad prodcution, robbing the songs of their intensity.

The Peel Sessions is the best Napalm moment IMO: if you haven't heard them, you need to check them out - easily the most extreme thing I've ever heard. I think they were released on CD, so you should be able to track them down - you can probably get the vinyl on eBay.

World Downfall is the bollocks.

'Fear of Napalm' is a great track to mosh to when pissed (or sober).

'Horrified' is the best grind album of all time. It's also one of the best DM albums. But there's no denying that 'World Downfall' is an ageless classic. Those were the days, my friends.

Horrified is indeed great. Well ahead of its time as well - when did it come out, 86 ?

I had Soft White Underbelly! But I swapped it for Deceased's Luck of the Corpse I think.

Scum is a vital album. Bad production or not. The same goes for Horrified.
I think Carcass's Symphonies Of Sickness deserves a mention too. So there it is.

I think Jon Horse has shares in the Book of Face... seriously.

It's one of my favourite albums. I cant pick between that and Human 2.0 for the best grind though

Are Intense Degree on Hardcore Holocaust? I got the 2nd one I think. I'm sure they are on there.

World Downfall is one of the best grind albums ever. First time I heard Terrorizer was on the Earache GrindCrusher Compilation elpee in '89. It was the song the dead shall rise, and I thought, what the hell is this???!!! It's faster than Napalm Death AND it's tight! Too bad they decided to do a second album. That was a huge dissapointment...

It's always seemed to me to be more thrash than grind or death. Nonetheless it's a great album.

If only more "renunion" bands learnt from Terrorizer's experience.

Yeah, I have S.W.U. too, but on vinyl. It was never put out on Cd though, and its about time, like 10 years ago! Luck Of The Corpse is a great album too!

Symphonies... is my favourite Death Metal album of all time, simple as that....

There is a re-release of the first O.L.D. Not by earache records. A friend of mine has it. It also contains demo's etc. I think he ordered it at displeased records.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's one of the albums they auctioned on their website for ownership of the complete rights to the recording.

Yeah, Jim Plotkin himself is selling that over at plotkinworks.com. They are bootlegs, but he bought em up to stop some other unscrupulous characters making money of his shit.

Cant be arsed with them, I have the demos on tape still, somewhere!

Terrorizer pwns. but I'm a grindcore fanboy and tend to like 30 second songs with tons of screaming and blastbeats.

In the early days of grind/death every new release was exciting, because they were (nearly) all so unique, and nowadays, you pick up a copy of terrorizer mag to see 60-70 reviews of the same shit regurgitated.
This is not really a complaint, I think it's great that so many bands are "'avin' it large", but there is a lot of repetition going round.
Terrorizer, Carcass, Sweet Tooth, Fudge Tunnel, Early Godflesh, Deicide, Morbid, Left Hand Path, Napalm, Cathedral, even Lawnmover Deth all had their own vibe.

That said, Nasum, Gadget, Gojira, Akercocke, Cannae all do it for me nowadays too.
