Napalm Death Guitarist Mitch Harris Unleashes New Menace Video

By on 17 September 2014

Napalm Death guitarist Mitch Harris has recently embarked on his own solo project, named Menace, and has released an animated video for his new song ‘Malicious Code’.

Menace’s sound is worlds apart from Harris’ light speed work with Napalm Death, mining instead an industrial yet strangely anthemic vein itself – just wrap your ears around the absurdly catchy chorus for ‘Malicious Code’ if you don’t believe us!

The song is taken from Menace’s debut album, ‘Impact Velocity’, a record that features contributions from an all-star cast including Derek Roddy (drums), Fred Leclercq (bass), Nicola Manzan (violin, cello, viola), Shane Embury (bass), and Russ Russell (producer and navigator of paradoxology).

Mitch himself explained the project as such:

“We wanted to save this video for later, since it’s a completely different vibe than the others. Its unique, twisted view on rebuilding society creates a dark post-apocalyptic vision that I have not experienced before. The combination of music and visuals transfixes the viewer by enhancing the lyrics the perfectly. Malicious Code generates an invasive, vulnerable standpoint, an atmospheric mood beneath a controversial underlying message.

‘Malicious Code’ was an artistic project based on the concept of AI (Audio Installations). I created a montage from the short film by Floris Kaayk called The Origin of Creatures.

Floris Kaayk is an artist based in the Netherlands. He has a unique style and truly embraces the concept of artist interaction. Floris was kind enough to contribute his footage to support the concept of A.I. A futuristic vision of a world after a catastrophic disaster, but due to miscommunication this mission is doomed to fail.

The storyline of The Origin of Creatures is based on one of the most well-known tales about collaboration, the Tower of Babel. This tale is transformed and twisted and is set in an imaginary future, after the world is hit by a catastrophe. Among the remains of a devastated city, lives what is left of humanity.

Here is a link for Floris Kaayk’s original full length, animated short ‘The Origin of Creatures’, which already won a series of awards in prestigious film festivals worldwide.

Kaayk received worldwide recognition for his viral Bird Hoax video. This has attracted much attention to his work.”
