The Old Wind ‘In Fields’ stream and album review

The Old Wind

The Old Wind’s new album ‘Feast On Your Gone’ receives 3/5 from Noel Gardner in Terrorizer #235. Here’s what Noel thinks of their new album, and you can listen to a stream of the track ‘In Fields’.

Six songs of slow, icy and intense post-Neurosis atmos-metal from a new Swedish band, you say? Could be a cracker but… we’re gonna need a bit more of a hook. As it happens, The Old Wind can deliver on that front. It’s the brainchild of Tomas Liljedahl, ex-frontman of the never-huge, always-revered Breach; having graduated from solo studio project into band, two more Breach members plus one of The Ocean also feature. Keenly engineered, with a massive drum sound warranting special mention, there’s little evidence of Breach’s hardcore roots in the music, although Liljedahl’s vocals are commendably larynx-sanding over these 35 minutes. Feels wrong to call old hands like The Old Wind ‘promising’, but ex-member concerns aside, that’s where we’re at.

[3/5] NOEL GARDNER
