Welsh doom quartet Spider Kitten will be releasing their new album ‘Behold Mountain. Hail Sea. Venerate Sky. Bow Before Tree.’ next week, but you can hear the entire thing right now, exclusively with Terrorizer…

Spider Kitten have come a long way for a band that initially set out to just “guff out some sludge” (their words, not ours) back in 2001. Four full lengths and numerous splits and EPs later (not to mention a fair share of lineup changes) and the band have just finished work on ‘Behold Mountain. Hail Sea. Venerate Sky. Bow Before Tree.’, which could well be their heaviest record to date.

The three hefty tracks that make up the album were only written and jammed once before entering the studio (some were even made up on the spot on the day of recording), lending the record a rugged, almost improvisational feel that makes it even more thrilling. There’s also some guest appearances from Stuart ‘O.F.D.’ O’Hara (from UK doom legends like Iron Monkey, Acrimony, Blackeyeriot and currently Sigiriya), who unleashes a blistering solo on opening track ‘Lindisfarena’, and Charlotte Nichols (ex-Crippled Black Phoenix), who performs the heart-wrenching cello parts on the album’s epic three-part closer, ‘Gore Swan’.

The band will be playing a free album launch show this Saturday (November 1st) at the Crobar in London. It’s totally free of charge, so there are no excuses not to head od down, really. You can find more information about that here.

The riffs are evidently just pouring out of Spider Kitten at the moment too, as the band have already revealed that they’ll be entering the studio to record their next full-length album this year too. Whilst ‘Behold Mountain…’ draws it’s inspiration from Norse mythology, the next as-yet-untitled record will be based around the life and times of a psychopathic expatriate Welsh drifter in the USA called Yakbone Wolftooth, and will take in elements of blues, outlaw country and railroad music, as well as their usual brand of psychedelic doom meanderings.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves; for now, just kick back, relax and let the doom wash over you…
