Ritual Festival Leeds: “I wanted it loud, dark and heavy”

Ritual Festival 600

Ritual Festival is a brand new festival located in Leeds and runs Saturday 9 April 2016 with a Friday night pre-show featuring the mighty Winterfylleth. We spoke to organiser Dan Vaughan who told us of the ideas behind the festival:

“as long time listeners to a wide range of the metal genres… for this festival we wanted to do something a bit different, we felt that the bridge between Doom and Death Metal needed something new. We approached this festival by contacting the bands/artists we personally really enjoyed, seen live and wanted to host ourselves.

So the Ritual lineup is a mixture of bands we have seen live and loved, bands we feel would work amazingly well together and need more exposure but haven’t been on the same lineup. We wanted some old skool death metal, that was a must. Genuinely the lineup is my music taste, none of that who pulls, best for business stuff, I just hope everyone that comes enjoys it and hopefully finds some new stuff to listen to. I wanted it loud, dark and heavy and I think we have achieved that.”

The festival kicks off on Friday 8 April at Eiger Studios, Leeds with a line-up that is topped by Winterfylleth and includes Saor, Mountains Crave and Conjurer.

The festival itself will be on Saturday 9 April across two stages at Canal Mills in Leeds. The line-up itself includes Grave, 40 watt Sun, Full of Hell, The Body, Conan, Black Tongue, Ingested, Martyr Defiled, Slice the Cake, Nexilva, Hang the Bastard, Slabdragger, Venom Prison, OHHMS, BongCauldron, Revelations, Carbine, Cryptic Shift and Slot.

Ticket prices are £12 for the pre-show, £25 for the main event or an incredibly reasonable £35 for the full two days/ You can buy your tickets for Ritual Festival here.
