Season Of Mist Sign Weedeater For New Album

By on 7 November 2013

Legendary sludge outlaws Weedeater have just been signed to French metal label Season Of Mist for an as-yet-untitled fifth album.

After releasing their rip-roaring debut ‘…And Justice For Y’All’ in 2001, Weedeater were snapped up by Southern Lord after releasing their sophomore record ‘Sixteen Tons’ the next year. In 2007 the trio struck hard with their Steve Albini produced sludge masterpiece ‘God Luck And Good Speed’, before releasing the critically acclaimed ‘Jason… The Dragon’ two years ago. By this point, the band have matured into one of the most electrifying power trios on the contemporary sludge circuit, so that fifth full length can’t arrive soon enough as far as we’re concerned!

The band themselves had this to say about the pairing:

“When we heard we would be working with Season Of Mist, we almost wrecked our pants. Can’t wait for y’all to check out this shit.”
In related news, bassist “Dixie” Dave Collins’ ‘other’ band, seminal sludge pioneers Buzzov*en have been confirmed for Roadburn Festival 2014. It’s a good time to be a sludge fan!

You can find Weedeater on Facebook.
