Phil Swanson has left US doom band Hour of 13 for touring reasons.  The metallers, known for their mix of NWOBHM with doom recently signed to Earache Records and looked to be in a promising position.

The departure leaves just one remaining member.  Despite this, creative hub Chad Davis will still head the band into tour, taking over on vocal duties until a replacement is found to fill the place of Swanson.

Swanson said: “I have decided once again on leaving the ranks of Hour of 13 as I cannot commit to live touring duties at the level the fans, the label and the band would expect.”

Chad Davis released a statement rectifying the situation.

“Phil Swanson has once again decided to step down from Hour Of 13.  We hope his path will find him all the best in his musical fulfillment. The band will continue with Chad Davis taking over vocal duties for the upcoming shows we have booked. We plan to deliver the same caliber of Occult Heavy Metal we have created for the past 3 years, and we will continue. Hour Of 13 thank all of the supporters and fans worldwide.”
