Incantation: “We just look forward to doing some gigs for the album” A short interview with John McEntee.

By on 16 October 2012

Incantation are back! Six years after silence (apart from a split and EP), the Pensylvanian death metal brutes are back with their latest slab of violence ‘Vanquish In Vengeance’. We recently caught up with vocalist/axeslinger John McEntee.

How does it feel to finally bring out a full-length?

John: “It’s great; honestly I thought ‘Primordial Domination’ [2006]  was going to be the last Incantation album. So to have a new album coming out is just awesome. I couldn’t be happier with the album and the people I’m working with now. The whole reason for doing a new album was because we felt that we have something great to contribute to our catalog and hopefully something cool that our longtime supporters will enjoy. I think people can hear that on the recording. We are a band that is really spilled out guts out on this ‘Vanquish In Vengeance’.

Tell us more about the album…

” It’s a recurring theme has to do with genocide over religion. It’s not a concept album. It’s amazing that if you look throughout history most of the wars and massacres have been over religion. Something even people that have live in peace for 100’s of years or over religious ideology that only has insignificant differences and is not even provable because they are believes not visual facts.”

Do you think this is the best Incantation record to date?

“As a band we have pretty much achieved almost everything we could have imagined already. We started out as a death metal band that just wanted to do what we wanted and not care what anyone thought. So we look at everything we achieve as an added bonus. We feel we put out an extremely strong album and if the masses like it or not we know we did it’s the best we could have done. We can play the album and be proud of what we have achieved with ‘Vanquish in Vengeance’. We just look forward to doing some gigs for the album and finishing working on our next album that is already about half done.”

What does 2013 have in store for you guys?

“I’m currently working on new music for the next Funerus album along with new Incantation material. With the line up we have now with 4 song writers we have no shortage of material. So I don’t see another long delay between records. Besides that we just hope to decimate the death metal world with some raging live performances.”

‘Vanquish In Vengeance’ is released November 26 on Listenable
