Altar Of Plagues Hit The Recording Studio This Month

By on 3 December 2012

Altar Of Plagues are currently recording their long-awaited third album, the follow-up to 2011’s ‘Mammals’, in London’s Orgone Studios.

James Kelly, frontman of the Irish atmospheric black metallers, spoke exclusively to Terrorizer from the studio, and revealed that this new album will be a change in musical direction for the three-piece:

“We started incorporating a lot of new sound, and new styles,” says James. “It has a heavy, kind of electronic element to it. Which is something we always kept quite subdued in the background, but now it’s really been brought out with a whole new level to it.”

James goes on to reveal that the as-yet-untitled album will have over ten songs. “That kind of black metal sound of a 20 minute sound is tedious,” says James. “I don’t wanna keep doing the same thing over and over.”

But James assures us: “It’s still metal, it’s still dark! It’s just quite different to anything we’ve done before.”

The album will be produced by Altar Of Plagues and mixed by Jaime Gomez of Orgone Studios. It is due for release in spring 2013 via Candlelight.
