This new track ‘Crucible of Light’ by Asira is taken from the band’s forthcoming self-released new album ‘Efference’. You can support the band at the Asira Bandcamp page.

Crucible of Light marks a debut single for Reading based Asira, their blend of black metal and progressive metal is both bright and engaging. With no single focus Asira are a band on the rise.

Explaining this track, the bamd’s first single, vocalist Jack Reynolds said:

“’Crucible of Light’ is a musical love letter to the Sun. Our aim was to create a song that contained many familiar elements of black metal, but fill it with colour, brightness and melody. This is a celebration of warmth and intensity, crafted to fill the listener with elation and energy.”

“Shimmering arpeggios and synths provide a musical backdrop inspired by the sheer vastness of space, overlaid with euphoric harmony mirroring sunlight and it’s regular passage across our celestial sphere. The pop-informed structure and the chorus’ melodic hooks share breathing space with the rawer, abrasive elements of black metal. A climactic ending relates flickers of astral consciousness with the irrevocable embrace of the Sun’s heat.”

“As the first song from our debut album ‘Efference’, ‘Crucible of Light’ is a statement of intent. It punctuates the start of a diverse metal experience, brimming with a healthy disregard for genre convention.”
