‘Disco Muerte One - Under Desert Stars'

Death Electro purveyors Goteki have experienced a great couple of years in terms of releases revolving around the ‘Santa Muerte' album. So it is hardly surprising that they would want to round this chapter off with a remix EP... or four as in this case. Mirroring the band's four part ‘Summer of Santa Muerte' EP series is ‘Disco Muerte...' which will be released for free via the band's website.
Drawing together some high-profile electro pals in the form of Apotygma Berzerk, Kant Kino, Vi Rez and Versus YouthClub to add some very different slants to the originals Goteki have pushed their fun side to the front again. Despite the darker edge to the new material tracks like Apoptygma Berzerk's brilliant disco orientated 12" remix of ‘Freebird', the Detroit house style of Vi Rez's take on ‘Glitterbomb' and Versus Youth Club's ‘The Death Of Nevada Dawn' inject some pure dance floor silliness into the EP.
Yet the purely Goteki offerings keep a foot firmly in the world of ‘Santa Muerte' with the almost mournful ‘Under Desert Skies' and remix of ‘Avenida Revoluçion' which will keep the attention of fans of their newer material.
Many remix EPs often feel like they have been done out of obligation or simply for the sake of it. But ‘Disco Muerte...' does genuinely come across as a band wanting to give more back to the fans who bought the album. Which is all the more admirable considering that this is a free release.
