LAST JULY
Glamorous Parasite
SELF RELEASED
Cambridge based Last July’s latest single, ‘Glamorous Parasite’ has all the ingredients you’d expect from the Dark Wave/Electro-goth trio and features three tracks including an acoustic version of ‘A True Story of A Lie’. The quirky intro of jagged electronics to the title track, pan out to an intermingling of raunchy and hunting guitars, all neatly woven around loaded, rocky vocals. The acoustic second track, meanwhile, contrasts with delightful, yet simple chords that enhance Alix’s more delicately driven voice and with ‘Eyes’ (Devolution Mix) completing the triad with subtle atmospherics, it has an upbeat bouncy arrangement worthy of any darkened dancefloor.
Three cleverly constructed songs that continue to showcase their progressive development in writing complex, catchy and effective dancefloor fillers, it's a worthy addition to any collection of this genre.
