There seems to be a craze of festivals and all-dayers cropping up around the UK at the minute. In addition to two events in Whitby this Spring (the official Goth Weekend and a new Alt Weekend with a lot of scene acts), the return of DV8, the tasty looking Dark Waters and the stomping Resistanz – spring 2011 sees the second Floorshow all-dayer in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.
The event, which takes place on May 1st, will be held at the new Riverside live music venue, on Newcastle’s famous quayside.
The ‘old’ Riverside was a legendary UK venue, hosting everyone from X-Mal Deutschland to the first UK Nirvana gig. With tickets for all gigs affordable for all live music fans. Even bands like the Deftones sported tickets of only £8 at their careers peak.
The event and the venue look to continue the ethos of this. Tickets are only £10 in advance, for 8 bands plus time for DJs between bands and after the band performances to make up an aftershow.
Floorshow II is headlined by Sheep on Drugs, who played the original Riverside in the 90s, whom have returned with promising new album ‘Medication Time’.
They are joined on the bill by other UK Gothic, Post-Punk and Industrial bands namely Dyonisis, Luxury Stranger, Deathboy, The Scary Bitches, The Last Cry, Momento Mori and Action Directe.
The DJ line-up sees DJs from the North-East’s two biggest scene nights coming together. Ghost and Marie from The Charnel House and Feral from Tech Noir.
Tickets are available now from local record shops and from www.seetickets.com
