With the Dominion Online top albums of 2010 list being readied for the days before Christmas we have been asking various band members what albums tickled their fancy during 2010.
Today we spoke to Simon York from Luxury Stranger.
Top albums of 2010
"The Last Cry album is one I've been listening to as a new 'Dominion' type act. I'd really like to push Brian Eno's new album which came out a couple of weeks ago - very nice work and probably a return to form for him as a 'non-musician' I think."
What is your band up to in 2011?
"I guess we could touch on the fact I'm currently rehearsing with new musicians who have joined the Luxury Stranger ranks as full-time members (after the sudden departure of Paul and Chris) and that things are going really well and at a fast pace. The new line-up will be unveiled (even though I believe some people are already getting sneaky feelings as to who the new members are) at a special charity show for MND at the Shed in Leicester on 15th January 2011. This will be a prep-gig ready for our shows in Germany and Holland at the end of January where we'll be supporting ChameleonVox (ex-the Chameleons). We're already writing new material. We hope to showcase at least one of these pieces in January."
Other albums you liked in 2010
"Other stuff I've been mainly listening to - Asylum Party, Gestalt, Fun Boy Three, Bunker Strasse, Nini Raiolette, Bad Baby, Marcie's Still Waiting, Guerre Froide, Malaria!, And Also The Trees, Closed Session, Squarepusher, Autechre - whether or not this will reflect in new LS material... I don't know."
