With the Dominion Online top albums of 2010 list being readied for the days before Christmas we have been asking various band members what albums tickled their fancy during 2010.
Today we spoke to former Screaming Banshee Aircrew front man Ed Banshee.
Top albums of 2010
1) Cold In Berlin - Give Me Walls
2) Grinderman - Grinderman 2
3) Snowman - The Horse, The Rat and The Swan
4) O. Children - O. Children
5) The Dogbones - The Dogbones
Why do you like your Number 1 album the most?
"With the 'Give Me Walls' album Cold In Berlin have released a debut album that successfully manages to capture the energy and impact of their live performances without compromising on quality. A barely restrained wild beast of a post-punk album with flavours of Hazel O'Conner and Siouxsie and the Banshees at their most dangerous."
What is your band up to in 2011?
"Screaming Banshee Aircrew came to the end in July 2010 - our last ever concert was at the DV8 Festival, hosted by Chris Sherrington, the same person who'd given us our very first show. My brother Chris left the band to concentrate on the amazing Berlin Black and The Shades Of Grey along with his Trash Vogue records promotion company - Jo Violet and Neal Unreal are currently part of his live band. Jo Violet is living up to her surname by also playing bass for the March Violets and working on their new album as well as continuing her work with Music Non Stop.
This means I've had time to focus on my somewhat self-indulgent solo multi-media project Forgotten Between! I'm working on a collection of awesome songs with some really exciting guest musicians (but not who you might be expecting!) and I'm hoping to put these out as a conceptual video-EP project early next year. I could tell you more but won't! You'll eventually be able to find it here: www.forgottenbetween.com
Once all that's done, I'll start looking around for a new live band to continue where the SBA project left off - I still have some unfinished business to take care of and I'm looking forward to prowling the live stage once more.
So the legacy continues. You may not know it but SBA had an EP's-worth of new material, which we were going to record shortly before we split - so, who knows, a 2020 reunion may well be a possibility."
