The 1989 debut album by Nine Inch Nails, ‘Pretty Hate Machine', has been remastered and reissued by Trent Reznor and sound engineer Tom Baker. Long-time artistic collaborator Rob Sheridan has also worked on a re-interpretation of the original album cover by Gary Talpas.
The album is available in Digital, CD, and Vinyl formats and features a bonus cover of Queen's ‘Get Down Make Love', which originally appeared on the ‘Sin' Single.
Originally released in 1989 ‘Pretty Hate Machine' did well critically and commercially, but due to the public falling out between Reznor and his then label TVT the album effectively went out of print. Fast-forward to 2005 and the album receives it's first reissue courtesy of Rykodisc putting it back into print for the first time in eight years. The rights to the album were then acquired by The Bicycle Music Company - an independent publisher - who allowed Reznor to remaster the album as he wanted.
Reznor commented on the band's official website about the remastering of the album:
"It's been an interesting trip watching the fate of this record float from one set of hands to another (a long and depressing story) but it's finally wound up in friendly territory, allowing us to polish it up a bit and present it to you now. We had fun revisiting this old friend, hope you enjoy."
More details can be found on the band's official sub-site for the album.
