Rob Zombie, the Lord of Salem.

I have previously mentions Rob Zombie's latest project, The Lords of Salem, and how it will be different from his previous films. For starters, he has been promised the holy grail of “total creative control”, and secondly the story is to be a contemporary supernatural horror-thriller.
The Lords of Salem is currently in the process of being written by Rob Zombie, with filming scheduled to commence in the Spring of next year. The plot will be based in modern-day Salem, where the inhabitants receive a demonic visit from a 300-year old coven of witches.
In a recent interview with Billboard, Rob Zombie explained more about his latest film:
"They (the producers of Paranormal Activity) came to me and wanted to work together, I didn't even have an idea at the time. They were like, 'If you want to make a movie, if you have an idea we will give you complete control over casting, the script, the final cut of the picture -- everything. You never heard that. Nobody hears that. Everything's a battle, but these guys were like, 'That'll be our deal with you.' And I was like, 'Great!'
I grew up in Massachusetts, so the Salem witch trials and all that was always very prevalent. Even when I was a little kid, you take a school field trip and go to Salem to the witch museums and watch re-enactments of the witch trials. I always found it fascinating, so I started writing an idea about...this group of five witches that were killed back then and have come back to modern day Salem to seek revenge.
I've been thinking about the music in this movie early, early on. We'll probably do the score this time out -- not rock music, but a score. I know I want music to play a large role."
Despite echoing classic horror movies, the plot sounds incredulity cool. What will make this film standout is that whilst the plot utilises a familiar trope, Rob Zombie's directorial will present the story in a refreshingly different style. I am also excited to see what Rob Zombie will bring to the score. Who can forget Marilyn Manson's awesome co-scoring of Resident Evil? The Lords of Salem promises to be the movie that seals Rob Zombie's directorial credentials.
