Many moons ago, records featuring Trent Reznor were rarer than unicorns, with NIN albums appearing every half a decade. Nowadays though, Mr NIN is absurdly prolific, having a hand in 6 records since he went all Queensryche with ‘Year Zero' in 2007.
The latest in his wild creative spurt is the OST for David Fincher's 'The Social Network.' Despite the hellishly boring premise (a film about facebook? Eh?), it's supposedly a dark piece of work, and T-Rez's soundtrack is suitably up to the task of providing an ominous companion piece to said film.
Naturally being a soundtrack, Reznor can't exercise his predilection for gothic disco pomp, so the record is comprised of moody but melodic soundscapes that aren't a million miles away from those heard on 2008's excellent 'Ghosts I-IV.' It's yet another quality release that'll likely sate fans until Trent gets fed up of his wife's nagging, retreats to his shed and does another Nine Inch Nails record.
