The Horde

I love zombie movies, but one aspect that does seem overdone is how the films inevitably follow – except in rare circumstances – ordinary people. Although having ordinary people in extraordinary situations can make great stories as Lost proved, it can be overdone which has happened with the zombie genre. Until now.
Yannick Dahan and Benjamin Rocher's forthcoming French zombie movie “The Horde” is one of those rare exceptions. Instead of the average person, we have armed gangs and crack police facing zombies, in some of the most brutal sequences I have seen. Watching the trailer, I have the distinct impression of this is what would happen if Precinct 13 was remade by George Romero.
According to the press release:
A posse of crooked cops, malevolent gangsters and a horde of walking dead are the centre point of this gruesome, tight, action packed, claustrophobic tale of retribution and escape. Penned like animals, on the top floor of a deserted high-rise block, these two opposing gangs find that they are not alone in the lair of bloodthirsty corridors of death. Joining forces to survive, they must reach ground level together or perish. Loaded with a bad ass attitude, guns, axes and extremely creative hand-to-hand combat sequences that project the fears and paranoia that are the fighting forces behind the need to survive, when caught up in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The movie will be released in the cinemas next month, with a DVD release shortly after.
I promise to stop writing about zombie movies too, maybe.
