It has been several years since the Addams Family Values was released. Whilst the film was a gleefully enjoyable, it was criticized for lazy writing, and tickets sales did not justify a third live action film to be made. Despite, it seems there will be a new iteration in the franchise.
According to ComingSoon.net, an animated version of The Addams Family is currently in development. Tim Burton was also rumoured to be onboard as the director, but this has since refuted by Burton’s representatives.
Producer Christopher Meledandri (Ice Age trilogy) confirmed the forthcoming Adamms Family movie will use stop-motion animation, rather than computer generated graphics. The movie will also be based upon the original Charles Addams comics that ran for fifty years from 1938. The films creators have yet to decide whether to release the film in black and white or not.
Personally, I think a black and white stop motion Adamms Family movie in black and white will work incredibly well. The stylistic presentation will match the mood and humour of the film beautifully. Besides which, more Morticia Adamms is always appreciated, especially when I had a crush upon her during my formative years.
