Fresh Blood for the Murderdolls

As I have posted before, The Murder Dolls are reforming, with Wednesday 13 and Joey Jordison forming the basis of their return. This is excellent news. But what I did note is that Wednesday 13 and Joey would be recruiting new musicians to complete the new line up for their band.
Part of me wondered how these new musicians would impact upon The Murderdolls signature sound. In a recent interview, Joey Jordison explained their reasons why he and Wednesday 13 recruited fresh blood, and who they were.
“The old band, we didn’t even know each other before it all came together,” says Joey. “We didn’t even play as a band until we were on the set of the ‘Dead In Hollywood’ video. It was just a case of throwing five guys into a bus and learning to become friends. It was dysfunctional but it worked but this time, we wanted it to be a little more stable. It was apparent that if were going to do The Murderdolls again, we were going to do it with everything we’ve got and we’ve got.”
“This time we wanted solid players. Roman Surman is going to be playing guitar for us,” confirms Joey. “He played the leads on the record. He’s the only other one of the guys who played on the record. Racci Shay Heart is going to be our drummer and he’s the last of a dying breed of drummers. He’s like a demonic Keith moon and that’s the highest compliment I can pay somebody. Our bass player Jack Tankersly, who looks like he’s in The Seahags. He’s all long black hair and tight as shit with Racci and the band now sounds exactly like I always wanted it to sound.”
This sounds incredibly cool. As many will know, The Murderdolls are a visual experience just as much as they are a musical one. It sounds like this freshly risen from the crypt Murderdolls will be an eminently leaner and tighter group. Needless to say, I am already looking forward to their expected tour (no details have been released, but given The Murderdolls following in the UK, we should expect one).
Whilst browsing for videos to close this post, I came across a live recording of The Murderdolls covering Billy Idol's White Wedding on Top of the Pops. All I can say is: “wow”…
