Kate’s Clothing

By on 2 March 2011

If you, like me, are fed-up of spending half your wages trying to fill your wardrobe with fabulous gothic attire fret no more. It is possible to obtain tailored and originally designed outfits without crying when the credit card bill comes through and Birmingham based label Kate’s Clothing will show you how.

Kate – founder, designer and namesake of the company – originally began creating clothes as a hobby almost  in 2003 but it soon turned into a full time business due to the popularity of her work.

The scarlet-haired seamstress, who’s grinning likeness is also the label’s logo, dreamed of having her own clothing range when she was just ten years old, carrying around a scrap book of designs and showing them to anybody and everybody who would listen. Now her fashion label is in it’s eighth year and expanding all the time including jewelry, shoes and make-up lines. Customer service is a priority too with a price match guarantee and free shipping on certain orders!

Being a curvy lady herself Kate has always made it a priority to include a wide variety of dress sizes in her range and those who model for her come in all shapes and sizes, not just a slim size 8. A dedicated men’s range also distinguishes Kate’s Clothing from other alt labels out there – each piece has as much input as the women’s line, sometimes even more!

“Men are a lot harder to design for, the line between interesting and going too far is very thin. That said, my mens designs often vastly out sell the womens ones, so there’s definitely plenty of demand, but not many brands that risk trying to fulfill it. Which isn’t exactly bad news for me, I’ll just keep them coming as fast as I can!”

New lines for the Summer  include 40’s inspired gothic wear from her well known brand ‘Necessary Evil’, steampunk influenced tops and inventive but classic trad skirts and while her mission is to provide alt fashion that won’t break the bank, Kate plans to add some luxury styles in time for  Autumn/Winter 2011

If you fancy kitting yourself out courtesy of Kate’s Clothing the lovely lady herself has offered a fabulous belt and a £50 voucher to spend online for one lucky reader of Dominion! So whether you are male or female, large or small this prize suits everybody. Simply send your name and email address to news@dominionmag.com , with the subject title ‘Kate’s Clothing’. First out of the ‘hat’ wins, competition closes in one week.
