SHAGRATH SPEAKS ABOUT BLACK METAL FESTIVAL APPEARANCE WITH...CHROME DIVISION?

Enigmatic extreme metal icon Shagrath is set to play at Kings Of Black Metal Festival in Giessen, Germany this Saturday. However, whilst the frontman is famed for his work with symphonic black metallers Dimmu Borgir, he won't be taking to the stage with them. Instead he will be grabbing his guitar and appearing with his rock n' roll project Chrome Division.
The fearsome five-piece played the festival last year too, and have been asked back again. So, how does the notorious Norwegian feel about taking a rock band to a black metal festival for the second time?
"It may sound silly to have a rock n' roll band playing a black metal festival," he admitted. "But still I think that is the beauty of it! I've been thinking a little bit about it, thinking that maybe Chrome Division shouldn't be a part of this, but because we had such a good experience with it last time I said 'yes' to be a part of it."
He recalls his time there in 2010:
"Last time we played there, there was a lot of black metal bands - and then Chrome Division entered the stage and kicked ass! I think everbody was singing along to it, even though the second album was only out and not many people had heard of it. We got the best response out of all the bands at the festival. It might have been a bit out of place musically, but it's rock n' roll - everybody loves rock n' roll!"
Chrome Division's third record '3rd Round Knockout' is out on May 6th, on Nuclear Blast Records.
