70000 Tons of Metal - Týr

If you're lucky enough to have got yourself a ticket for this unique tour, then you already know who's coming onboard in the line-up.
Tyr's Heri Joensen takes five to talk with Wretched Spawnee Ann S. about his expectations for the cruise, and how it might stand out from the rest of the festival crop.
Follow up:
*How did Týr get onto the line-up for this tour?
There were some fans writing to us about that tour, and as soon as I read about it I thought it was a very nice concept; so (I think) I wrote to our US booker and asked him to get us on it. I'm not sure if we would've been on it anyway, but that's how I heard about it!
*Do you have any expectations about the tour?
Yeah, of course I have! I mean, it's on a cruise ship, it's bound to be pretty relaxing compared to a usual tour: everything's there, there's food and all sorts of facilities, excursions, activities, and forty bands playing two shows over five days... it sounds like a fantastic festival!
*Are there any bands you're particularly looking forward to?
Yes, there are - Amon Amarth and Testament.
*Are you a big Chuck Billy fan?
Yeah, but I'm a bigger Alex Skolnik fan!
*Do you have any hopes of what this tour is going to do for Týr's future?
Not that much... I mean, this one festival is not going to have that much of an impact more than any other festival would have, I think.
If you're on any festival at all, being visible and keep promoting your name and your music, this is what's going to make a difference. Just one festival in the long run is not that important!
*Do you have any feelings about the tour's possible impact on the future for metal?
Metal could go to the sea! At least I've never heard of that concept before, and if metal is the first... no, I'm sure there must have been floating festivals before, it can't be the first time! But this is a much more exotic or holiday-like setting than any festival I can think of; usually you're wading in mud or trying to hide from the sun, and the toilet facilities are below any standards, and I don't think that's going to be the case on this one - at least I hope not! It could take the whole festival concept to a different level.
*Do you have anything to say to fans who are going on this tour?
Same to fans who come to any show - it'll be great to play for our supporters again and I look forward to seeing familiar faces; it's always nice to see people you've seen before, and catch up and just have a chat with people over a drink or two!
