Phil Anselmo on new EP: “It sounds like fucking classic Down!”

Upfront of their October UK tour NOLA supergroup Down will release ‘Down IV Part 1′ on September 17.

The EP features six tracks – ‘Levitation’, ‘Witchtripper’, ‘Open Coffins’, ‘The Curse Is A Lie’, ‘This Work Is Timeless’ and nine-minute closer ‘Misfortune Teller’.

Says frontman Philip H Anselmo:  ”This is a Down record and we know how to write Down music. So honestly, there was no pressure at all and I just let it come to me. The result? Epic Down in my opinion. You know, it sounds like fucking classic Down and I’m pretty fucking happy with it.

“I’m all about the song, I’m all about hooks, I’m all about shit sticking in people’s heads and I think that each one of these songs has that element.”

Catch Down axemen Kirk Windstein this weekend with Crowbar at Bloodstock Festival. See Down in the UK in October when they play The 02 Academy Manchester, 19, HMV Institute, Birmingham, 20 and The Roundhouse, London, 21.
