Leif Edling of Candlemass: “I Was ‘Dead’ For A Month”

By on June 20, 2012

In this month’s Terrorizer, we talk to Swedish doom metallers Candlemass about the future of the band after the recent departure of lead vocalist Robert Lowe.

Forward-looking founder and bassist Leif Edling says, “‘Psalms Of The Dead’ is still the last album- you can’t advertise it as the last album and a year later the next one comes out!”

He continues on a darker note: “After writing ‘Death Magic Doom’ I was ‘dead’ for a month”, highlighting the evident toll that recording has had on the band member.

Despite this, Edling adds that, “We have nothing to prove as a band, we’ve played everywhere, so why not pick the shows we want to do and make those shows really good? It’s definitely not the end of the band.”
